About Matthew Duffy
My love for film and TV started when I was young watching as many movies as possible. My parents loved having Friday movie night, and would always let me rent a movie from our local Blockbuster. Movies where my world, and helped me expand my imagination and create my own little worlds.
Entering High School, I was fortunate enough to join my schools News Club where we would broadcast our announcements every Wednesday and Friday morning. It was a multicam setup, and by grade 12 I was the lead showrunner for our news team.
After High School I would enroll at Trent University to further my education, starting a dual major in both English and History. Unfortunately, I would not be able to complete my education there, as with the rise of COVID moving all classes to online, I would greatly struggle with my courses. Like many other students during this time, I would drop out of Trent University as the move to all online courses was not something I strived in.
I would take a year off, trying to find myself, and would remember how passionate I was back in high school with my news team. After researching what schools were best known for film and television productions, I would find Sheridan College to be one of the top schools in Canada for this. I would submit a short story as part of the application process, and come September I would begin my first year at Sheridan.
My 4 years there have been incredibly construction to my understanding of the industry, and I can not wait to continue learning as I enter the work force!
